From time immemorial up to colonization, the Tlowitsis were providers, protectors, and decision-makers for our lands and waters. Our story is as unique as the culture and protocols we live by. In the 1960s we were dispersed across the west coast – but now our people have the chance to come ‘home’.

Poor federal decisions forced the Tlowitsis to leave our village of Kalagwees in the 1960s and disperse across the coast with no alternative community provided to us. Through our own means and determination, a new community is near completion south of Campbell River, BC. Nenagwas, “a place to come home to”, is a 635-acre community that will help house and heal our members.
